Blunt x Graham Tipene 2026

Inspired by Kawakawa Pounamu

This second collaboration between BLUNT and Graham Tipene is inspired by Kawakawa Pounamu, a treasured variety of Aotearoa New Zealand greenstone. Its rich, deep green tone resembles the leaves of the native kawakawa plant.

Pounamu is held in the highest regard—just as te reo Māori deserves protection, respect and active use.

Graham Tipene (Ngāti Whātua, Ngāti Kahu, Ngāti Hine, Ngāti Haua, Ngāti Manu) is a highly regarded Māori artist and designer whose work brings te ao Māori into the landscapes and public spaces of Aotearoa.

Based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Graham’s distinctive work can be seen throughout the city, from the Waterview Tunnel and Tirohanga Whānui bridge to Auckland War Memorial Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira. Originally trained in Māori design and tā moko, his practice has grown to encompass large-scale public artworks that connect people with place, history and whakapapa.

At the heart of Graham’s work is a desire for Māori stories, voices and values to be visible and embedded in the environments we experience every day.
